Bittersweet zine is a collaborative effort. We invite photographers, designers, writers, and artists to participate in a journalistic, artistic effort to share stories of the inspiring and much-needed work being done in our city. This is sort of our way of leveraging our professional skillset to contribute to our broader community in a meaningful way.

Anna Williams
Anna Williams (pronounced on-ah) is a transplant to DC from the chilly state of Michigan. The notion that design can elevate ideas that would normally be overlooked is something that drives her daily. That being the case, her collection of work has been focused mainly on data visualization in the non-profit sector. Off the clock, she loves to pour candles, draw on chalkboards, & letterpress pieces of advice for her friends. In 2012, Anna will tie the knot with her favorite person on earth in a small coffee shop in Arlington.

Jon Black
Jon is a great example of loving what he does and doing what he loves. As staff photographer for an international relief organization, he traveled to over a dozen countries in a span of two years, creatively documenting a vast array of cultures, people, and programs. Since returning to the states, he’s been shooting weddings, events, and somehow managed to get married himself. Now in Washington, DC for the foreseeable future, he’s in the freelance market and looking to plug into the local scene…which now includes shooting for Bittersweet.
